Group Mat Classes
I blend traditional Pilates exercises with modern biomechanical techniques exploring how the body moves through kinetic chains to build strength, balance and awareness. In classes we use a variety of small equipment, you may of heard of the magic circle, foam roller, flex band and exer soft ball and we use weights.
We follow the 6 original principles of Pilates which are:
Breath - breathing with movement
Centre - working from our core
Concentration - focused movement
Control - mindful deliberate movement
Precision - attention to detail
Flow - seamless and efficient movement
Classes are of mixed abilities where exercises can be up or down graded to suit you. There are up to 10 people in a group. You can try your first class for £10.50 and then there is a course commitment thereafter.
Which Level?
Foundation Plus is perfect for those building confidence in their Pilates practice. This class focuses on developing strong foundations, clear technique and body awareness through accessible, supportive exercises. Options are offered to increase challenge, allowing you to progress at your own pace.
Foundation Strong is ideal for those who feel confident with the fundamentals and are ready to build on their practice. This class continues to focus on strong foundations and good technique, while introducing more intermediate options in a supportive and encouraging way.
Why do I have to commit to a course?
The key to any movement programme is consistency, you need to be practicing Pilates at least once a week to see a benefit. Dipping in and out of pilates will not see an improvement, signing up to a course shows commitment to wanting to move better and gain strength.
Do I need any kit?
You'll need your own mat and a cushion/sitting block to get you started, if you have a tennis or spiky ball bring that aswell as we massage the plantar fascia of our feet while we wait for everyone to arrive. After a while you may want to get a stretchy band and 7 or 8" exer soft ball as we use these often
