Group Mat Policies

Booking & Course Structure

Group mat Pilates classes are offered as structured courses, booked two months at a time to support consistency and progressive learning.

Places are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Priority booking is given to existing clients.

Classes are not offered as drop-ins.
Occasionally, a current client may book and pay for an additional session, subject to availability.

All bookings are made via email.

Please note: I organise all classes and sessions independently of school term dates and timetables. While some classes may align roughly with common term times, I do not follow the school calendar and class blocks, breaks or holiday pauses are set according to my own schedule. Any changes to session dates or availability will be communicated in advance, so you always know what to expect.

Payment

Payment is required in full before the start of the course.

Accepted payment methods:

  • Cash

  • BACS transfer

Your place on the course is not confirmed until payment has been received.

Cancellations, Refunds & Missed Sessions

Once a course has started, no refunds are available, including for missed sessions.

Missed classes may be:

  • Caught up at another venue within the same current course period, subject to space availability, or

  • Forfeited if no suitable space is available

Missed sessions cannot be carried forward to future courses.

Clients may not send a friend or family member to attend a class in their place as a one-off.

Class Numbers & Changes

Courses require a minimum number of participants to run. In the event of low enrolment, I reserve the right to cancel or postpone a course with appropriate notice. In such cases, a refund or credit will be offered.

Health, Safety & Medical Information

Clients must disclose all injuries, medical conditions, pregnancy, or changes in health prior to participating.

All clients are required to complete a health questionnaire before attending group mat classes.

Please note:

  • Pilates is not a substitute for physiotherapy or medical treatment

  • I do not diagnose injuries or medical conditions

  • Group classes are not suitable for acute injuries or post-injury rehabilitation requiring hands-on support

  • Participation is at your own risk

  • Clients must stop exercising immediately if they experience pain, dizziness, or discomfort and inform the instructor

Illness & Contagious Conditions

For the wellbeing of all participants and the instructor, please do not attend class if you are unwell, including:

  • Colds

  • COVID-19

  • Flu or other contagious conditions

Missed sessions due to illness fall under the standard missed session policy above.

Venue & Hall Etiquette

As classes are held in shared village hall spaces, clients are expected to be respectful of the venue, equipment, and other users.

Please:

  • Arrive on time and allow sessions to start and finish promptly

  • Keep personal belongings tidy and out of walkways

  • Ensure children, guests, and pets do not attend unless expressly permitted

  • Use any provided equipment with care

What to Wear & Bring

To ensure a safe and comfortable class:

  • Wear comfortable, appropriate gym clothing that allows movement and is not overly baggy

  • Hair must be tied back

  • Grip socks are recommended (bare feet are acceptable unless stated otherwise)

  • Bring your own mat, if you have a tennis ball/spiky ball bring that too

  • Bring water and keep bottles away from mats and walkways

Weather & Unforeseen Circumstances

In the event of bad weather or circumstances that make travel or venue use unsafe, classes may be cancelled or moved online via Zoom. Clients will be notified as early as possible.

The Value of 1:1 Pilates Sessions

While group mat classes are a great way to build strength, mobility, and consistency, they cannot provide the same level of individual attention as a 1:1 session.

Clients are strongly encouraged to supplement group classes with occasional 1:1 Pilates sessions, particularly if they:

  • Have injuries, recurring pain, or medical considerations

  • Are returning to exercise after time away

  • Feel unsure about technique or alignment

  • Want support with specific goals or movement challenges

1:1 sessions allow for:

  • Fully personalised programming

  • Hands-on cueing and detailed corrections

  • Safe modification of exercises

  • Deeper understanding of your body and movement patterns

Private sessions can significantly enhance the benefits of group classes and help ensure exercises are performed safely and effectively. They also support long-term progress and confidence within group settings.

Booking for 1:1 sessions is subject to availability and can be discussed via email.
